Dear Resurrection Family,
Just a brief note to update you on what will be a very exciting weekend at the church! I can hardly stand the wait! Here's what's coming up this weekend:
1. Resurrection West to Launch This Sunday!
2. Jesus and the Junkyard? Join us for Worship This Weekend
3. Invite a Friend Via E-Invite to Road Trip Sermons This Weekend
4. Children's Fall Kick-off
5. No 7:45 am Service Next Three Weeks - Fellowship Breakfast This Weekend
6. Talk Back Live Interview Re-broadcast Sunday Morning at 10:00 am on KCPT
1. Resurrection West to Launch This Weekend!
This weekend we officially launch Resurrection West - at 107 th and Lone Elm Road just north of College Boulevard and east of K-7. This is very exciting - giving birth to a new congregation. Rez West will meet at Prairie Trail Junior High. The traditional service begins at 9:10 am, and the contemporary service at 10:55 am. It would be difficult to express how excited I am for the launch of our new western Johnson County location. We began talking about this eight years ago and began work in earnest two years ago. We have an extraordinary staff, great music, wonderful pastors and terrific lay leadership leading this effort. As you know, I will preach via video - the Rez West congregation will see this weekend's sermon just as any of you would, watching as I preach, from the video screens in our Sanctuary (which most of you do) the rest of the service is live. If you have friends who don't have a church home who live in Olathe, Shawnee, Lenexa, DeSoto, or points west would you consider inviting them to the services. We've put together a video about Resurrection West, and a website dedicated to Rez West. Click on this link or pass the link on to your friends: www.rezwest.org. Please pause right now to pray for Resurrection West. If you have questions, feel free to contact Pastor Russell Brown at 913-544-0706 or Pastor Molly Simpson at 913-544-0236.
2. Jesus and the Junkyard? Join us for Worship This Weekend
On Tuesday of this week, I was at the junkyard doing research for this weekend's message. I think you'll discover what I learned has a lot more to do with the gospel than you might think! This weekend we'll launch a three-week series of sermons that will help us understand the spiritual journey of the Christian life. This series is designed to make it easy to invite your friends who may not be involved in church - particularly men who love cars. In conjunction with these sermons we'll have a small car show each weekend where you can vote on your favorite classic car. Don't miss the fun and inspiration ahead these next three weeks!

3. Invite a Friend Via E-Invite to Road Trip Sermons This Weekend
If you'd like to invite a friend to this series of sermons you can do so via e-mail - sending them the postcard along with a link to watch the promo video for this series and a brief message from you. Hundreds of people have worshiped with us after first being invited by a friend through our e-invite. Simply click on this link and follow the directions.
4. Children's Fall Kick-off this Weekend and Kids Festival Sunday Night
This weekend is our fall kick-off in Sunday School. If you have children or youth, this weekend is the first day of school. As my children were growing up we believed Sunday School was more important to our children's development as human beings than what happened in their weekday school. As important as it is to learn reading, writing and arithmetic, I wanted their hearts to be shaped by God and by a study of the scriptures, and for them to learn about God's will for their lives. If this is important to you as parents don't forget to be in Sunday School this weekend. In addition to our Sunday School kick-off this weekend we're having a Kids Festival Sunday night for all kids and parents - this is happening from 5:30 to 7:00 pm in our parking lot with the GX Skateboarding Team, Champion SpeedStacking, Magicians and Jugglers, awesome kids' musician Rob Biagi in concert, burgers and ice cream. Parents bring your kids to Sunday School (Sunday morning 9:00 or 10:45 or Sunday night at 5:00) and then join us in the evening for burgers, ice cream and fun!
5. No 7:45 am Service Next Three Weeks - Fellowship Breakfast This Weekend
Because of certain special elements in the sermons the next three weeks, which could not be replicated in the Chapel, we will not hold 7:45 am worship for the next three Sundays. This weekend we will have a fellowship breakfast at 7:45 am in the Narthex of the west building for 7:45 am attendees. If you usually worship at 7:45 am, I hope you'll join me for breakfast and then attend Sunday School and worship. Next week we'll meet at 7:45 am for "Stump the Preacher" - a chance to ask your hardest questions about the Christian faith. On Labor Day weekend we'll invite you to sleep in and then join us for worship at either 9:00 or 10:45 am. We'll start 7:45 am worship the Sunday after Labor Day, September 10.
6. Talk Back Live Interview Re-broadcast Sunday Morning at 10:00 am on KCPT
This last week I was Steve Rose's guest on his program, Talk Back Live on KCPT. If you are interested in seeing this, or better, sharing it with an unchurched friend, the program will be re-broadcast this Sunday morning at 10:00 am, on KCPT channel 19 (Channel 11 on Time-Warner Cable). I think your unchurched friends might find this program interesting and it is an excellent way to introduce them to our church.
There's so much more to share with you - but that's all I have time and space for today. I hope to see you this weekend in worship as we embark on the most important Road Trip of all!
In Christ's Love,
Adam Hamilton
