Technology

This site and all related Resurrection sites are built in TYPO3, a free open source Content Management System licensed under GNU/GPL.  Kasper Skårhøj, the creator of TYPO3, is a committed Christian from Denmark who sees TYPO3 as his personal mission from God.  We affirm Kasper in this mission and are most grateful for it.  TYPO3 is available as a free download at TYPO3.org.  It is built on the Apache/PHP/MySQL platform.  It uses its own scripting language, TYPOscript, for template development and makes heavy use of CSS.  Skills in CSS and PHP are helpful when learning TYPO3. 

In 2004, as part of the process of deciding whether to use TYPO3,  Leo Johns prepared an evaluation report that reviews the system in depth and includes links to numerous TYPO3 resources on the web.  If you are evaluating TYPO3, you might find this report helpful.

Our sites use powerful TYPO3 extensions developed by The Web-Empowered Church.  WEC is a ministry of The Foundation for Evangelism designed to help churches around the world apply Internet technology to enhance evangelism, discipleship, and care.  We gratefully acknowledge their assistance in developing, maintaining, and hosting this site.

Hosting

Our sites are hosted on a pair of dedicated web servers located in Vine Hosting's Philadelphia data center.  Vine Hosting is also a ministry of The Foundation for Evangelism.  Our IT Department manages and supports these servers with the assistance of Vine Hosting's helpful and capable staff.

Maintenance

Approximately 40 staff and lay leaders have access to the content management system and make all day-to-day content updates on the site. Our Communications Department retains overall responsibility for the look, feel, and content of the site.  Content is continuously updated and is published immediately, without any delay for editorial review.

Our sites are designed for Internet Explorer 6.0 or later for Windows, Mozilla Firefox 2.0 or later for Windows, and Safari 1.3 or later for MacOS X.  If you are running one of these browsers and you see a problem with the way a site displays or functions, please let us know.
