“Confirmation” is the time when a personal decision is made to confirm the vows of our baptism. At Church of the Resurrection, this happens as a group of students join together for a semester of exploring who Christ is, what it means to know Him through a life-long relationship, and how we follow Him as United Methodists. The Confirmation then takes place in a ceremony of students publicly declaring their commitment to Christ and desire to become full adult members of our church family. Our first prayer is that each student involved will commit to a real and personal faith. Our second prayer is that they will begin to cherish the rich heritage we have as United Methodists. This includes the building of relationships with peers and adults who will support them in their faith.
Confirmation is not simply a “rite of passage.” It is not just a class to complete. It is not just a class to take because every one else is. It is a step in a life-long journey of pursuing the heights and depths and widths of God’s love and making a vow to live in relationship with Him for the rest of our life! Come join the Journey.

Requirements
- Attend sessions, retreat and ceremony
- Weekly attend another Rez Life program, either a small group, Youth Choir, Sunday School, youth group on Wed. nights or all!
- Be an Acolyte or Cross Bearer for worship services - click here to register for Acolyte
- Attend Church Service
- Personal devotional, journaling and prayer
- Scripture memorization and homework assignments
2008 Confirmation Classes will be held on Sunday afternoons in the Student Center from 1-3 PM. We will serve snacks. All students will be put into small groups with other confirmands and two adult mentors. No friend requests made for groups.
Fall 2008 CONFIRMATION SCHEDULE
Sept. 7th- Parent(s) and Student Kick-off Meeting (Mandatory) 1-2:30pm
Confirmation Sessions all meet 1-3pm
Sept. 14th, 21st, 28th; Oct. 5th, 12th, 19th and 26th; Nov. 2nd, 9th
Mandatory Confirmation RETREAT Friday, Nov. 14th 5:30-11:00pm
Mandatory Confirmation CEREMONY Sunday, Nov. 16th 2:00-3:30PM
You must attend the mandatory events, and you can't miss more than 2 weekly sessions. Those who miss more than two sessions, or the final Retreat, will not be Confirmed.
We are also looking for Mentors for the Confirmands. It is a 2 hour 10 week committment. We would love to have you join us in the Journey. Contact Teri Chalker at 544-0287 or teri.chalker(at)cor.org for more information.
