Collections: Furnishings Ministry

The purpose of Resurrection's Furnishings Ministry is to demonstrate God's love for those in need by providing those basic household comforts which assist in the attainment of a quality of life desirable for all God's children. We meet the household furnishing needs in Kansas City urban and surburban communities with resources donated by Resurrection members.

There's a servant opportunity for anyone who has a heart for God's people.

  • Intake team - variety of ways to serve from home.
  • Monitor voice mail or email for donation pick-up requests.
  • My Fathers House Distribution Center - support team, daytme Wednesdays serving our Kansas City ministry partners. No heavy lifting required.
  • Holy Haulers - movers and drivers Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, other days as available.
  • Care and Prayer - Spiritual support for servants and families, thank you notes to donors,  intentional prayer for ministry, hospitality.
  • Data Entry -flexible schedule, work from home.
  • Lunch Angel Coordinator - coordinate groups providing lunch on Saturdays.
  • Saturday Sorting Guide - direct FaithWork and small groups how to recycle and shelve donations in preparation for pickups.  Training provided.
  • Communication - Get the word out! Assist with Facebook page management or develop and manage an online newsletter.
  • Licensed Plumber - consult on warehouse restroom renovation.
  • Recycle/Restore/Reuse - furniture repair/cleaning, small appliance repair.

Donation pick-up or drop off request

Useful household goods in gently used condition are always needed. Please keep in mind that these donations will be going to families in need and our hope is that every donation will be a blessings to the recipient.

Furnishings needs list

  • Small household goods may be dropped off at the Collection Connection in the northwest corner of the narthex in bins labeled "Household Goods"
  • Pick-up of large items may also be arranged by completing the online form or bycontacting resurrectionfurnishings@cor.org or calling 913-544-0755 and selecting option "5"
  • Pick-ups are scheduled for Wednesday evenings on a first-come, first served basis.
