Hunger: Feed the People
The mission of Feed the People is simple: To lovingly draw people into God’s arms by preparing food and going into the streets of Kansas City every week, in all climates of weather, to serve those who are spiritually lost and hurting.
When: The third Saturday of alternating months, 11:30am-6:30pm. (2010 dates: Jan 16, Mar 20, May 15, Jul 17).
Where: Meet at Sheffield Family Life in Kansas City, MO
What: Volunteers will arrive at 11:30 and begin preparing a hot meal (entrée, salad, dessert, bread, and tea) to serve approximately 400 people that day. At 2:30 two vans are loaded in order to go out into the mission world of back alleys, bridge underpasses, campsites, low-cost motels, parks, and anywhere else the Lord leads them. Uplifting gospel music, Christian tracts, prayers, and a smile are provided as a reminder of God’s eternal love for them. The vans arrive back at approximately 6:30 for cleanup and an ending prayer. Volunteers are encouraged to prayerfully consider an optional $10 donation per person to cover the cost of the food being served.
