Hunger: Serve Urban Meals
Teams from Resurrection regularly prepare and serve hot meals at food kitchens in the metro area. The recipients of meal ministry are generally low income and/or homeless individuals and families from various ethnic backgrounds in the communities surrounding the local church.
Each team buys, prepares, delivers and serves the meals on a regular scheduled basis. Most teams have one specific day each month to serve, but there are also one-time opportunities.
Serving Opportunities:
- Serve once to see if it’s a good fit for you
- Become a substitute when a regular team member can’t participate
- Make an ongoing commitment to become part of a regular team
- Form and lead a new team
Current Locations:
- Central United Methodist Church: Armourdale, KCK - teams serve at Central every Saturday and Sunday year-round.
- Grace United Methodist Church: 9th & Benton, KCMO - there are 3 Saturday teams and 1 Sunday team that serve at Grace, and we are looking to build more teams.
- Grand Avenue Temple: Downtown, KCMO - Grand Avenue has various one time opportunities available on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
- University United Methodist Church: 31st & Parallel Pkwy, KCK - teams serve 2 Saturday evenings each month at University.
- We are also open to adding new locations and serving times if leadership teams and location liaisons step forward.
