Theology, Literature & Race

Thursday:  July 28       6-8 pm

For our final meeting for the Theology, Literature & Race class we will gather to Break Bread at Wesley Heights United Methodist Church, 1903 Hardesty Ave., Kansas City, MO.

This class has been an opportunity to explore issues of race through selected essays, dialogue and most importantly, grace.

Starting Thursday, June 30 at 7 pm, this 4-week study was in partnership with Centennial United Methodist Church and was led by Rev. Dr. Jeff Williams, Associate Pastor, Centennial United Methodist Church and Professor of Literature at The University of Central Missouri, along with Matt Bisel, student of Saint Paul School of Theology.

Classes alternated between Centennial United Methodist Church, Church of the Resurrection - Downtown and with the final meeting at Wesley Heights United Methodist Church.

Registration for this class is now closed. If you have any questions, contact Matt.Bisel@cor.org.

Back to School Supply Drive Is Happening!

The start of the school year can be expensive and purchasing school supplies may not fit into a family’s budget when they are struggling to provide for basic needs. Quite often, teachers will pay out of their own pockets for the supplies that students need.

RezDowntown has a long-term commitment to Wendell Phillips (now Wendell Phillips at Attucks Elementary School) and we are helping to provide these school supplies.

Pick up a bag in the Sanctuary at 1522 McGee or Connection Point at 1508 Grand starting July 23 to fill with purchased school supplies.

Don’t have time to shop? Simply donate money towards the purchase of items in bulk – $35 is all it takes to get everything a student will need for the year.

Once you fill the bag or write your check, bring them back to Connection Point by Sunday, August 7.
