Description:
Partner with the Methodist Church in El Obraje to support the community by providing clean water through filtration systems, medical care, and clean air through stove pipes for wood burning stoves. Throughout Honduras, teams will continue to develop pastors and lay leaders through adult discipleship education and curriculum. Participants aged 16 and older are welcome when accompanied by a legal guardian.
This team will complete small construction projects to help improve the overall health of the people in the community. The team will work alongside homeowners to install stove tops and pipes as well as water filtration systems in homes. The current stoves that are used do not have proper ventilation and have caused respiratory problems and eye infections due to smoke in the homes. The current water is unfiltered and has caused worms and parasites in children and adults. With the installation of the new stove top/pipes and water filtration systems, both of these problems can be alleviated. Many of the home owners that the team will be working with are single mothers. This work will help improve community health through both prevention and education.
For interested dental professionals, there will also be a small dental team working with patients.
Teams typically stay at a lodging facility in Danali. There will be a warm welcome and food especially prepared for us.
