Are you interested in Missions in Malawi?

In addition to providing clean water through deep water wells, teams will partner alongside the United Methodist Church in Malawi, supporting church leadership nationwide. In the local community of Madisi, team will facilitate leadership training, nursery school education, agricultural orijects, nutrition programs and sanitation and hygiene training. Resurrection will also partner with the Malawian Church to train lay leaders and empower women through economic development, including micro-enterprise training. Adults aged 18 and older are welcome on these trips.

 The June team will fly to Lilongwe, the capital of Malawi, where they will be briefed by a United Methodist missionary before making the two-hour drive to their lodge near Madisi.  They will worship with the Madisi UMC congregation in the church built by Church of the Resurrection and share a meal with them, then return to their lodge to begin training nursery school teachers from the 15 nursery schools operated by the Malawi UMC and supported by COR.  Following the three-day training, the team will visit the other churches in the Madisi circuit and share a farewell meal with the congregation.  They will then visit the Malawi UMC’s farm about two hours east of Lilongwe, spending the day there.  An optional two-day safari at the South Luangwa National Park in Zambia will follow, after which the team will overnight in Lilongwe before flying back to Kansas City.  

While in Malawi you will have the opportunity to meet people who truly know what it means to rely on God for their daily bread, to build lasting relationships with the Madisi community, and to experience the unforgettable worship of our African brothers and sisters.  The music and dancing is too contagious to ignore.  You will see the beautiful countryside and experience “The Warm Heart of Africa.”  The people of Malawi are proud of this nickname and the fact that their country has never been involved in a war.  You will have the opportunity to experience a very simple lifestyle, and will return with a new understanding of what it means to have plenty.
