Purpose: Navajo Nation Family Trip for Ages 5 and up

Description:   Teams, comprising families, couples, and individuals will partner with the Four Corners Native American Ministry and local United Methodist congregations in either Window Rock, Arizona or Shiprock, New Mexico.

Typical team projects include light construction, renovation, and/or maintenance on church and community buildings, as well as local outreach. Local outreach is for everyone and often means Vaction Bible School for kids of the Navajo Nation or adult education.training. VBS outreach includes dance, music, games, and crafts. None of these projects/programs requireany special building skills or experience, just a desire to teach, learn and laugh with young and old alike. All activities will be assigned to match the team's abilities.

Team members will also experience living history during an off-site, culture day. In addition, there will be multiple opportunities to particpate worship services, hear Navajo spoken, sample Navajo food and purchase authentic handmade Navajo jewelry, art and woven rugs.

Cost: The $250 trip cost includes accommodations in a modest bunk-house, team meals, and some team activities. It excludes travel to and from Window Rock, Arizona and transportation while in Arizona.  Driving to Window Rock is an approximately 17-hour trip. Teams can also fly into Albuquerque and then drive 2 hours to Window Rock.
