Description:
Work with the Methodist Church of Southern Africa on adult and youth training and construction of church buildings. We will partner with local churches in leadership events that will help train lay leaders and staff on “best practices” and “SMART goals” for their churches.
While in the Durban area, the teams will visit a variety of the Pinetown Methodist Church ministries including Sizanani which teaches the skill of sewing; Phakamisa which provides skills and training to hose affected by HIV/AIDS; and Steve's kitchen which is an urban feeding program for the unemployed; a drop-in center for younger children so older siblings can attend school; and a pre-school and care center for disabled adults. Teams will also have a chance to attend fellowship groups in members' homes and experience joyful worship, singing and dancing with our African brothers and sisters.
To expand your experience, 3 cultural days have been added to the trip. The team will experience cultural activities like the Apartheid Museum, the Cradle of Humankind and an overnight safari in Pilansburg National Park.
