Group Life
The Christian life is not meant to be lived alone. We were created for connection – with God and with one another. Yet each of us must take our own path, one where God is leading us to grow deeper in faith and become more like Him each day. At Resurrection, we call that path The Journey, where we are growing to be more like Christ by knowing, loving, and serving God and others. Resurrection’s Group Life Ministry is designed to help each of us as we take our Journey. The purpose of the ministry is to help people become deeply committed Christians by providing a safe and supportive environment, led by the Holy Spirit, where group members encourage and challenge each other to deepen their faith and live out their calling in the world. We invite you to say “yes” to the amazing Journey that God has planned for you. Below is some key information that will help you get started.

How do I get connected into Group Life?
There are three options:
1. Attend the next Learning Community Event: Learning Communities are teaching and connecting events delivered by a master teacher in an interactive, community-driven format. Participants are seated at tables with others - based on common age and life stage – and will discuss the teachings at each session. Near the end of each six week event, tables are invited to consider moving forward into Group Life together.
• Tables that connect at the event will be “launched” as a new group and assigned an experienced leader to help get started.
• Tables and individuals that do not connect at the event can meet with Resurrection staff to consider placement into one of Group Life’s existing small groups or look at other Discipleship options.
Most people move into Group Life through the Learning Community events, which are offered every month. You can learn more here.
2. Sign Up for Community Life – Resurrection’s Men’s, Women’s, Singles, Seniors, Workplace, and Young Adult Community Life ministries also offer opportunities for people to connect and move into Group Life. The process for forming and launching new groups varies by ministry. Go here to learn more.3. Direct Placement – Individuals already participating in Community or unable to sign up for an upcoming Community events should review this open group listing and then complete this interest form; you will be contacted by a member of the Group Life team to discuss next steps.

How do I sign up for Sunday School?
- We encourage everyone interested in Sunday Morning Groups to first engage in Community. Please see the above information on “How do I Get Connected?” for more information. -
Rather than traditional “Sunday school” delivered in a classroom environment, Group Life offers multiple small groups that meet onsite each Sunday morning. Members of these groups are expected to commit, connect, and participate in this small group experience.
A list of those Sunday morning groups can be found here. If you are interested in getting connected:
1. Visit us this Sunday! Meet a Group Life team member each Sunday between 8:40 - 9:00 am or 10:40 – 11:00 am in our Hospitality Room (East Building Room 221). Existing group members meet here for coffee and donuts before going to their meeting rooms, and each week our staff will be there to meet with you, discuss the ministry in detail, give a tour, and talk with you to determine the next steps.
2. Send an email! You can do that by completing this online interest form. The Group Life team will receive your information and contact you to discuss next steps and to introduce the group leader.

How do I sign up for Disciple Bible Study?
Disciple Overview
Disciple Bible Study is Resurrection’s most popular Bible study with over 4,500 people completing the study over the last 15 years. What makes Disciple such a great study?
- Disciple gives you the big picture overview of the Bible and helps new readers make sense of the awe-inspiring book.
- Disciple lays out a daily reading plan which helps develop a daily time experiencing Christ reading God's Word.
- Disciple is a discussion-based study where you learn how God has spoken to each person in your small group and learn from others and they learn from you.

Please note that when you join a group, you are signing up to join others as part of a small group, not just study the Disciple curriculum. It is up to each group to determine how quickly and in what manner it moves through the curriculum.
Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to participate in Community before Group Life?
We think it would be a highly beneficial first step to engage in Community if you are considering participation in Group Life. Whether you are a longtime Resurrection member who is ready to re-engage or are new to Resurrection, please consider participating in one of the Community offerings. Each ministry will provide excellent foundational teaching about who we are as a church and will help you connect with others in the congregation. Those who have participated in prior Bible studies and are interested in bypassing Community and moving straight into Group Life should review the open groups list and then contact Gia Garey at gia.garey@cor.org to discuss next steps.
