Knowing, Loving, Serving: Learning Communities

Learning Communities are designed to create environments where people experience growth and support as they engage in the discipleship Journey.

If you are looking for an overview of the Christian faith or you're uncertain where to begin, we recommend you start with Alpha.  Each of the ten weekly sessions consists of a talk addressing a key issue related to the Christian faith.  There is a light meal at the beginning, and after the talk we divide into small groups to listen, learn, discuss and discover.

In addition to Alpha we offer three other Learning Communities.  Characteristics include:

  • Large group teaching with a gifted presenter, combined with small group table breakouts
  • Three separate, interactive 6-week courses of study designed to teach what it means to know, love and serve God
  • Opportunities for individuals to grow theologically, connect relationally, engage in spiritual practices (like bible reading and prayer), and experience mission and justice

New sessions are offered several times each year.  The three courses are:

  • Knowing God – Explore the good news of the Bible and discover Bible study tools and resources to deepen your understanding of the Scriptures
  • Loving God – Learn spiritual practices that will help you grow in your relationship with God and others
  • Serving God – Discover your spiritual gifts and unique role in serving others on the journey with your time, talents and resources

You can take one of these courses, or all three, in the order you choose.   The next learning community, Serving God, will be offered on Wednesday mornings, 9:30-11:30am, and evenings, 6:30-8:30pm, starting January 14, 2009.  Check back mid-December to register!
