Silver Link Ministries
Serving Frail Older Adults
Silver Link Ministries maintains or creates a connection with older persons who become unable to fully engage in the life of the church through pastoral care and worship. We link with our church family, their extended family or others in private homes or care homes. Silver Link also supports caregivers and has special programming for persons with Alzheimer’s Disease or related disorders.
Positive Lights is a new program to Silver Link. Founded in 2003 by Resurrection member Gregg Gimlin, Positive Lights seeks to praise staff in care homes (assisted living and skilled nursing) to encourage and support them as they do such important work. Frequently, Silver Link offers a small gift and personal notes of thanks to staff in area care facilities. For further information, contact the Silver Link office at 913 544 0261.
The Silver Link Prayer Shawl team knits lap robes and prayer shawls. They have a tag that reads: "This shawl was made for you by our Knitting Ministry at the Church of the Resurrection. We prayed for you and asked the Lord to bless your life. May this shawl be a comfort to you." Resurrection Quilters piece lap robes as well. These are taken to our church family in the hospital or care homes so they can be "wrapped in prayer."
Silver Link supports Caregivers through classes and one-on-one support and information on resources in the community. Call the Silver Link office for further information at 913 544 0261.
Silver Link Pastors, Chaplains, Congregational Care Ministers and volunteers support persons and their families in the hospice journey thorugh pastoral visits.
Silver Link co-facilitates grief support classes which are offered in six week sessions throughout the year. This class is open to all in the community.
Further resources for serving the frail, including video resources, are on the Center for Ministry with the Frail website.
