Emergency Assistance to Haiti

On January 12, a major earthquake occurred in Haiti causing catastrophic damage. Our United Methodist denomination has been heavily involved in Haiti and has disaster relief personnel on the ground helping with the emergency response in the immediate aftermath of the quake. To see what our denomination is doing in Haiti right now through the United Methodist Committee on Relief  (UMCOR), click here. As the extent of the damage becomes more clear, they will be involved in assessing the best next steps.

Here are some ways you can reach out to help our neighbors in Haiti:

Donate funds.  Use the buttons to the right to donate funds online via PayPal, or to donate via your Resurrection Access account. You can also send your contribution (designated for “Haiti Relief”) to the church. Donations will be used in conjunction with ongoing United Methodist relief efforts in Haiti.

Haiti Health Care Kits

Church of the Resurrection, along with other Methodist churches in our conference, have prepared over 22,000 health kits that will be delivered to the people of Haiti through UMCOR.

Mission Trips to Haiti

Church of the Resurrection will be sending teams to Haiti to help rebuild and assist with medical services.  We are presently sending specialized advance mission teams. If you are interested in joining a team or assisting us in other ways, please email us at CORhaitirelief@gmail.com

IMMEDIATE NEED FOR PRAYER
Compassion International has just begun contacting sponsors of Haiti children who were killed in the earthquake. Please pray for:

  • those who are making these difficult calls
  • sponsors who are recieving the sad news
  • families in Haiti who have lost loved ones

The Church of the Resurrection continues to be in constant contact with United Methodist leaders – through the Kansas East Conference, the South Central Jurisdiction, and UMCOR. We will continue to learn additional ways that our congregation can help in sustainable relief efforts over the coming days and weeks.  Thank you for your heart for missions, as we mobilize to be God’s presence for Haiti, where we know God’s heart is breaking.
