Bless the School: Troost Elementary

In 2008, Resurrection partnered with St. James United Methodist and the Kansas City, MO School District to bless an inner-city school.  We painted and restored Troost Elementary, building on the success of "Paint the School 2007" at Wendell Philips Elementary.

Bless the School 2008

Thanks to the hard work from St. James and Resurrection volunteers and the generous donations from Christmas Eve, you successfully painted and restored Troost Elementary:

  • 1,500 volunteers (from Resurrection & St. James)
  • Painted 25 classrooms
  • Refurbished auditorium, cafeteria, and gym (including a new gym floor!)
  • Created 7 hand-painted murals
  • Built a playground with brand new equipment
  • Repaired asphalt
  • Provided new landscaping
  • Installed new whiteboards and cork boards in all the classrooms
  • All in a 2 week blitz with one month of prep!

By working together we can continue to bring hope, build trust and strengthen the abilities of children living in the inner-city, while also blessing the community of teachers, parents, and school district staff.
