Baptism at Church of the Resurrection
Holy Baptism is a Covenant between an individual and God. It is God's word to us, proclaiming our adoption by grace and our word to God, promising our response of faith and love.
Church of the Resurrection welcomes your inquiry about the Sacrament of Baptism and we look forward to assisting your family with planning this special day.
Persons of all ages can be baptized at Church of the Resurrection. Non members are encouraged to seek membership as soon as possible after being baptized. We baptize by sprinkling Holy Water, and make the sign of the cross on the forehead with anointing oil to invite the presence of the Holy Spirit.
The United Methodist Church recognizes baptisms done in other faiths and churches and therefore does not "re-baptize."
Requirement For Worship Service AND Special Baptism Services
Attend one of the following meetings are held in the Sanctuary (unless otherwise specified) from 10:00-11:00 am prior to your baptism date. If you have previously attended a baptism meeting within the last 3 years, there is no need to repeat. The remaining 2007 meeting dates are 7/21, 8/18**, 9/15, 10/20, 11/10 and 12/15.
**The meeting scheduled for 8/18 will be at 10:00 a.m. in Wesley Covenant Chapel rather than the Sanctuary. This meeting is mandatory for all participants being baptized in the Special Baptism Service on 8/18.

Special Baptism Services
Special Baptism Services are opportunities for persons of all ages to receive the Sacrament of Baptism. These services allow for up to 30 persons to be baptized. Following a short, solemn service, each baptism is performed individually with supporting family and friends gathered together at the baptismal font.
Time is allowed for photographs and videotaping of this special moment. These services are held at 3:00 pm in Wesley Covenant Chapel and are currently scheduled for 7/29, 8/18 (immersion or sprinkling) and 10/28. Call Betty Walter to register for any baptism service (Worship or Special Baptism). On-line registration for baptism is not available. It is Church of the Resurrection's desire to make your baptism a most memorable occasion.
