Silver Link Ministries

Serving Frail Older Adults

Silver Link Ministries maintains or creates a connection with frail, older persons through pastoral care and worship.  We link with our church family, their extended family or others who desire a connection to the church in private homes or care homes.  Silver Link also supports caregivers, has special programming for persons with Alzheimer’s Disease or related disorders and a low vision support group.

Positive Lights is a new program to Silver Link.  Founded in 2003 by Resurrection member Gregg Gimlin, Positive Lights seeks to praise staff in care homes (assisted living and skilled nursing) to encourage and support them as they do such important work.  Each month, Silver Link offers a small gift and personal notes of thanks  to all staff at an area care facility.  For further information, contact the Silver Link office at 913 544 0261.

The Silver Link Prayer Team receives a written prayer and list of prayer concerns twice a month in the mail.  This team, comprised of those Silver Link serves, are able to continue serving their church through intercessory prayer.  Occasionally, the prayer team letter is mailed to caregivers or volunteers who then assist their family or those in care homes to pray for others.

The Silver Link Prayer Shawl team knits lap robes and prayer shawls.  They have a tag that reads: "This shawl was made for you by our Knitting Ministry at the Church of the Resurrection.  We prayed for you and asked the Lord to bless your life.  May this shawl be a comfort to you."  Resurrection Quilters piece lap robes as well.  These are taken to our church family in the hospital or care homes so they can be "wrapped in prayer."

If you are aware of someone locally that Silver Link can serve, please contact Karla Woodward.

The Center for Ministry with the Frail has resources available in areas of worship, pastoral care, caregiving, hospice, community resources, volunteer training/support, discipleship and service to assist the pastor or lay person serving the frail.
