The Parables of Jesus
Presented From: Oct 01, 2006 To: Nov 19, 2006
We’ve all heard of the “good Samaritan” or the “prodigal son” or the fool who built his “house on the sand.” We know of the “pearl of great price” and the “lost sheep.” All of these expressions share something in common: They are taken from parables of Jesus. When Jesus taught he often spoke in parables – short stories which helped to answer important questions: What is God really like? How are we meant to live? Why do we struggle in doing the right thing? What will life be like in heaven? How is God at work in our world today? Through the parables Jesus sought to reveal the truths of the Kingdom of God and to teach us the meaning of life. Some are simple to understand. Some are more challenging. Beginning Sunday, October 1, Rev. Adam Hamilton will help us hear and understand the message of six of the best known and most important of Jesus’ parables.
