Journey Through the Old Testament
OVERVIEW
In Genesis, Abraham regularly built altars for prayer and worship and as a reminder of God’s promise to bless him (Gen 12:7-8, 13:18, 22:9). Symbolizing communion with God, altars were built out of rough stones and earth that often remained in place for years as continual reminders of God’s promises. Through prayer and worship, Abraham renewed his love and loyalty to God and remembered God as the center of his life.
You are invited to set apart a space for prayer and studying Scripture. Establish a place where you can focus on God. Take the study and prayer guides throughout this week to that site. Experience the presence of God in your holy space.
