OVERVIEW
King David was multi-talented, chosen by God, and a superb leader. But we learn some of the most profound spiritual lessons from the story of his terrible sin in taking Bathsheba, and then having her husband (one of his most loyal soldiers) killed to cover up what he had done. Psalm 51 gives us a clear view of true repentance, and we learn that, for David, being a "man after God's own heart" meant a willingness to honestly face himself and his faults, and to turn to God for forgiveness. Our defining moments often also come when we realize how much we need forgiveness--and how faithful God is in offering it.
