Surviving the Storms at Sea

OVERVIEW

Every life has its storms.  Some of them are small--disappointments, annoyances, minor problems.  We need to make our peace with these--to realize that such "storms" are simply a part of life, and to maintain our perspective and our equilibrium when they arrive.  Some storms are of our own making, like Jonah's--we refuse to follow God and God's purposes for our life, and in so doing we create the conditions which make our life stormy.  But many times the largest, most difficult storms "just happen"--God does not drown small children, push cars in front of trains or give people cancer to punish us or teach us lessons.  The Bible shows us a God who walks with us through these storms, who is full of caring and compassion, and who seeks our trust under all circumstances.
