Children’s Choirs
The Children’s Choirs at Church of the Resurrection allow children to:
- Learn to worship God through the power of music
- Use their gifts for the ministry of the church
- To experience the joy of creatively communicating the gospel of Christ
We rehearse during the school year on Sunday Evenings from 6:15pm-7:15pm, and we sing periodically in worship and for special events. Once each semester, the Children's Choirs combine to present a musical. All rehearsals take place in the West Building.
Summer Camps
In addition to the camps offered at Resurrection by the children's department, we also have two camps that are offered through the music department. Description are below and you can register through the link on the right.
7 DAYS OF MAGIC - June 1-7, 9a.m. to 3p.m., Monday – Friday with a performance Friday evening, Sunday morning and Sunday evening. CURRENT 2nd - 5th graders may attend. During the week, the camp participants will not only learn individual
parts for the musical but will also take part in creating the set, costumes and props. This camp is truly a lot of fun and will end with the campers showing off their talents by performing the music not only once, but four times!!! The first of these performances will be on Friday evening, June 5 for families and guests of the campers. The final three performances will take place on Sunday, June 7, for the children’s Sunday school classes at 9:00am, 10:45am and 5:00pm. Cost is $120
ARTISTIC ADVENTURES - July 13-17, 9a.m. to 3p.m., Monday – Friday, CURRENT 2nd - 5th graders may attend. This camp is designed as a way to introduce children to the different fine arts mediums, including drama, art, musical instruments, dance and vocal. Two field trips during the week will add to the fun and adventures of this camp. Cost is $120
Angel Choir
The Angel choir is for children who have turned 4 by September 1. Due to the nature of the choir environment, we feel it is in the best interest of the kids to limit this choir to 20 kids. Pre-registration is required and priority will be given to those with older siblings also in choir. Cyndy Lank will lead this group. They will rehearse weekly and sing with the other children’s choirs during our Christmas Musical, Christmas at Resurrection and the Christmas Eve Services during the fall semester.
Sonshine Choir
For our 5-6 year olds that are currently in Kindergarten. They will rehearse weekly and sing with the other children’s choirs during our Christmas Musical, Christmas at Resurrection and the Christmas Eve Services during the fall semester. During the spring semester, they will also have to opportunity to sing in worship. Susan Arends will lead this group.
Joyful Noise
For children currently in 1st or 2nd grade. They will rehearse weekly and sing with the other children’s choirs during our Christmas Musical, Christmas at Resurrection and the Christmas Eve Services during the fall semester as well as in worship. Lin Sanford leads this group.
Celebration Choir
For children currently in 3rd, 4th or 5th grade. They will rehearse weekly and sing with the other children’s choirs during our Christmas Musical, Christmas at Resurrection and the Christmas Eve Services during the fall semester as well as in worship. Those in 4th and 5th grade will have the opportunity to audition for speaking parts or solos in our musical. Jenny Nehrbass leads this group.
Cantate Choir
An auditioned choir for our 3rd, 4th and 5th graders. We will hold Auditions in early September and limit the group to around 20 singers and these singers are highly encourage to also be a part of our regular Celebration Choir. Cantate will rehearse on Wednesday evenings from 5:15-6pm. (right before Zone or Wild One’s) The purpose of this group is to sing more challenging music, received more in depth vocal training, sing in venues outside the church and provide music monthly for the 7:45am service.
