RESURRECTION ADULT ORCHESTRA
The Adult Orchestra performs each Sunday during morning worship, many special worship services and events including Christmas at Resurrection. We accept anyone who wishes to join the orchestra who demonstrates proficency on their orchestral instrument. We encourage musicians to attend a Wednesday evening rehearsal as we hope you will find our orchestra as a welcoming and embracing musical ensemble. Our orchestra is a great way to meet other church members while giving your musical talents to serve God, our church and community. Rehearsals are on Wednesdays beginning in August and continue through May, 6:45-8:30 pm, in the Leawood Sanctuary. Learn more and sign up on the Resurrection Orchestra Page so we may have music ready for you when you arrive. Feel free to email the conductor, Dr. Craig R. Miller for further information.
ORCHESTRA MEMBERSHIP
The Adult Orchestra at the Church of the Resurrection includes members and non-members of the church who volunteer their time to provide musical support for the ministry of the church. The orchestra personnel is open for all adults 18 and over who play standard string, woodwind, brass and percussion instruments found in a symphony orchestra. Currently, there is not an audition for adult members. If you have questions about the Adult Orchestra please contact Dr. Craig R. Miller.
Any student under the age of 18 must audition for the orchestra with the Adult Orchestra Conductor. Students who are not a member of the COR Youth Orchestra will only be considered if there is a direct conflict from participation or there is a unique situation not allowing them to participate in the COR Youth Orchestra. Once the student is considered eligible to participate in the Adult Orchestra by either the Adult or Youth Orchestra Director, the student must show a high level of musical achievement on their instrument equivalent to the expectation of an All-State Band or All-State Orchestra member. These students must demonstrate their ability by performing two solos contrasting in style, all major & minor scales and two of the etudes required on either the Missouri or Kansas All-State Band or Orchestra requirement. If a student is allowed to participate with the Adult Orchestra a parent must be responsible for all transportation and must accompany them on any out-of-town performance or mission trip. Students accepted to play with the Adult orchestra must also demonstrate a maturity level appropriate for an adult performing ensemble and should perform with the COR Youth Orchestra whenever possible. If you have questions about the COR Youth Orchestra please contact Sarah Blakesley, Director of the COR Youth Orchestra.
