Christianity and Suicide
Death is one of those topics we prefer not to think about. Yet what we believe about death profoundly shapes how we live life. And, each of us faces death regularly – whether it is the stories on the evening news, or the loss of someone we love. Ultimately we each will face our own mortality.
We also have questions about death: What happens when we die? Is there really an afterlife? If so, what is it like? Can we talk with our deceased loved ones? Do they hear us? How do we care for those who are dying? Or comfort those who survive? What happens if someone takes their own life? And what about our bodies – do we need them in the afterlife or is cremation okay? Ultimately we want to know, how do we face our own mortality with courage and hope?
The Church of the Resurrection is going to address these questions and more in our series, "Good Grief: Facing Death with Hope." If you’ve lost a loved one, or simply have questions about death, you’ll find this series helpful, inspiring and encouraging. Please join us for worship at Resurrection this week.
