Forgiveness
OVERVIEW
“Here’s my invitation to all of us today:
1. On the small stuff, change your accounting procedures and start tracking blessings not shortcomings – forgiveness means letting go.
2. On the more serious stuff – it’s time to help your partner remove the rocks – through repentance – and it’s time for you, if your partner has repented, to stop bringing up the problems, pulling the garbage from the garbage disposal.
3. And on the really serious–the catastrophic kinds of things–you must see the serious breach of your vows, the burden you are asking your mate to carry, and then help them carry it to Christ. Even if your marriage doesn’t survive, it is important for you to survive by prayer, and willpower, and maybe a good counselor, to give your hurt, shame and anger to God, so that you can be healed.” --Rev. Adam Hamilton in “Forgiveness and Marriage”
